jumpthegap®, the international design competition organized by the Spanish brand Roca in collaboration with the BCD-Barcelona Centro de Diseño, has presented the awards of its tenth edition, awarding those projects, designed for the bathroom space and with the biggest contribution to sustainable development.
With the aim of collecting all potential aspects of sustainability that can be applied to the bathroom area, the contest has been divided into four different categories: Well-being and health, Neutral design, Water and energy and Crisis and emergency. Three awards have been granted in each of the categories, and in addition a Best of the Best award for the most innovative project. In total, 17 thousand euros of prize money has been distributed to the winners.
This year's Best of the Best Award went to Laia Millan Catalá's Ikigai Project from the Elisava University of Barcelona. It concerns a smart mirror aimed at helping people with early dementia. By the use of integrated facial recognition technology, it proposes the user to carry out a series of daily routines that help delay and minimize the effects of this pathology.
