The German Design Council announces the winners of the 2019 German Design Awards

The German Design Awards provide an internationally recognised platform for outstanding achievement in product and communications design. Each year the German Design Council discovers and honours pioneering design work, and presents design innovations both to the industry and to a wider audience. Once a year the Bath & Wellness category reveals the trends that are in store for the sanitary ware industry. The judges of the German Design Awards have selected the most deserving products and projects from among over 5,000 entries. Each year, the winners of the »Bath & Wellness« category give us a glimpse of the trends we can expect to see in the sanitary ware industry.

This year, the much coveted Gold award went to Hansgrohe SE for the AXOR ShowerPipe 800. Other winners in this category include Kaldewei for its Nexsys shower system; Duravit for Shower+Bath, an innovative combination uniting contemporary bathroom design with optimum use of space; Nuovvo for Gravitzero®, a new lightweight solution that is easy to transport to the installation site and can be installed by just one person without assistance; Ideal Standard for Edge, an archetypal cast iron range that makes a convincing impression with its purist character and authentic materiality; and for Cosentino El DeKauri Bath Credenza designed in collaboration with renowned architect and designer Daniel Germani, a freestanding enclosed bathroom vanity crafted from Dekton, together with 50.000 year old Kauri wood.
