This 400 m² single-family home2 It is located at the entrance to the urban center of Piedras Blancas (Asturias), within a residential area. Due to the size of the plot, David Olmos Architects Part of a single, compact piece, the distinction between the north facade, with hardly any openings toward the residential area, and the south facade, with openings toward the distant landscape, is more spacious but controlled by exterior terraces that generate a degree of privacy, sound insulation from vehicle traffic, and sun protection. Despite being a robust volume, the setbacks created by the cantilevers of the south facade attempt to give the whole a lighter feel.
The materials chosen aim to create a homogeneous ensemble within a grayscale, both inside and out. To achieve this, three materials are used: ceramic, zinc, and white mortar. The first two are used in the interior volume, which is compact and anchored to the ground. In contrast, the facade overhangs are predominantly white, enhancing the geometry and giving the whole a lighter feel.
For the general flooring of the house, the Inari Gris Soft 90×90 porcelain tile has been selected. Keraben, a refined collection inspired by Iranian-origin marble. A natural work of art, with a striking gray color and delicate white veining. The Soft finish gives Inari a distinctive appearance that, together with its aged marble relief, faithfully reproduces the silky feel and natural appearance of this material, subject to the passage of time and wear and tear.
