Concretus House

A magical place on the wild coast of Portugal

The house is divided into two levels. The ground floor houses the daytime area, along with the master bedroom located on the northwest façade. The nighttime area is distributed on the first floor, which also houses the garage and the main entrance, given the need for access from the upper part of the plot. The hall and the double-height vertical communication core are located where the two wings intersect, thus coordinating the layout of the rooms on both floors.

The house has a large bathroom on the ground floor, next to the suite, and three smaller bathrooms upstairs serving the bedrooms located there. The concrete walls and ceiling are combined with the light oak parquet flooring installed on both floors. A pleasant contrast that balances the house's atmosphere. This contrast between wood and cement is repeated in the bathrooms, with the addition of polished stone slabs. The master bathroom occupies a privileged space where the concrete ceiling, the wood floor, and the natural stone furniture and slabs breathe, creating a very harmonious aesthetic. A small, custom-built sauna in the rear space transforms this bathroom into a fabulous relaxation room that enriches the house as a whole.

The building forms a single, emphatic volume, and despite the larger ground floor, this part of the building is semi-buried underground, creating a sense of belonging to a single, enclosing space from the outside. Following the guidelines set by the austere lines of this home's architecture, the interior design project created interiors that are connected to the exterior landscape while simultaneously reproducing the calm and tranquility anticipated by its walls.

The bedrooms have been furnished in a minimalist style, creating cozy, clean atmospheres that invite relaxation and tranquility. This simplicity and refinement have also been followed in the bathrooms, where the gray of the concrete dominates. In the master bedroom, a sliding door separates the sleeping area from the en-suite bathroom. A wooden cabinet with a double Toulouse Bathco sink is installed here. Opposite it is a Villeroy & Boch Subway wall-hung toilet with a concealed Geberit built-in tank. The floor-mounted shower features Hansgrohe Axor Citterio faucets. The Happy Duravit bathtub with Hansgrohe faucets can be seen in the background. The custom-made Freixanet sauna can be seen in the background.

In the upper-floor bedrooms, a Lipari bed by Orizzonti and a Tecno bedside table with two drawers by Pianca have been installed; in addition to the Tolomeo lamps by Artemide, the yellow Mosaïek rug by Gan, and the Eames Plastic Chair DSW with a maple base by Vitra. The sinks on this floor are Toulouse models by Bathco, with Hansgrohe Axor Citterio 250 faucets. In the smaller bathrooms, countertop sinks by Ideal Standard, Strada models, have been installed, with Zip faucets by Galindo. The in-tank toilets are by Roca, and the shower faucets are from the Zip series by Galindo.
