Hotel Saint Gelais_KRION®

The cutting edge of new materials

The Hotel Saint-Gelais in Angoulême, designed by PH2B, showcases the endless possibilities of a material as versatile as the compact mineral Krion, which is used in many elements of the rooms and bathrooms. It fuses the most elegant past with the cutting-edge of new materials. In the center of Angoulême, in the French region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, lies what was once a diocesan house and, for a few months now, has become the spectacular Hotel Saint-Gelais. Twelve rooms, a restaurant, a meeting room, a gym, and a terrace with spectacular views are the highlights of this hotel, along with its interior design.

The architects behind this project, Pierre-Henri Bouchacourt and Tristán Dohy of the PH2B studio, also carefully designed every object in this unique hotel. For many of the rooms, they chose surfaces made of the compact mineral Krion from the Porcelanosa Group.

The PH2B studio has successfully exploited the properties of this material, giving it different functions in every corner of the rooms. The bathrooms are particularly striking, where Krion acts as a vertical wall divider and is also used for the sinks and headboards. It is also found in shower stalls, mirrors, bedside tables, and sinks. The transformation company Eal C'Design has taken on the task of transforming PH2B's Krion designs from paper into reality.
