The owners of this home located in a town near Barcelona turned to designer Laura Martínez's studio for a renovation that would unify the living area. The challenge was to integrate the home's entrance, as it served as the link between the kitchen and the living room. To achieve this, custom furniture played an important role. "We created a piece of furniture that served as a visual divider between the entrance of the house and the kitchen itself, and on the other side, it became a breakfast bar," says interior designer Laura Martínez.
In the kitchen, the pristine white contrasts with two natural wood cabinet doors and the parquet flooring. The integration of appliances into the cabinetry also visually helps create a clean, unified space. The new partition in the entryway cabinet not only provides a more informal feel but also serves to delimit the space and respect the tranquility of the living room for the family's daily activities. The space has become brighter and stands out for its welcoming atmosphere.
On the other hand, the decision was made to maintain the laundry area, but leave it semi-open to the kitchen, and integrate it with the same custom-made furniture.
A Nordic style is a must-have in the living room and dining room. Warm tones and natural fabrics dominate the living room, with a natural jute rug and some rattan decorative pieces adding warmth to the space. A set of two round coffee tables at different heights, live plants, and a square pouf complete the room, which essentially follows the Nordic decorative trend. The living room is a cozy space inviting for conversation or watching TV on the comfortable ecru fabric sofa.
It's in the dining area where this Nordic style shines brightly. Here, the classic white Eames Plastic Chairs have been combined with a table and bench with a wooden top and metal frame. In short, Laura Martínez has redesigned the living area of this home, which, thanks to the exquisite combination of white and wood, stands out for its bright, informal, and welcoming atmosphere, with nods to the Nordic decorative style.
