An updated design of the glass igloos called Smart Lucia, backed by technology ABB which uses the KNX building automation standard. The igloos offer intelligent technological controls within the rooms to adjust to the adverse weather conditions specific to their location.
Glass igloos offer tourists in Lapland and Greenland the ideal opportunity to experience the Northern Lights, one of the most beautiful atmospheric phenomena in the sky. From these structures, we can comfortably discover the colors and lights that fill the sky.
The glass igloo works with KNX in any weather conditions. This range of glass igloos was first produced in 2018, inspired by the idea of creating more comfortable living spaces with glass, as well as small glass-enclosed terraces.
Architect Teemu Pirinen joined the Smart Lucia project team and created the distinctive igloos, which offer 360-degree views with exterior walls made entirely of glass panels.
Functional and simple building automation also helps the igloos save energy. Residents can apply settings to turn off all lights, adjust ventilation to minimum, and unplug electrical outlets. The hotel can change the settings remotely during vacation, and the system automatically adapts to different weather conditions, saving energy and reducing the need for hotel staff to make individual adjustments. The system can also be monitored and managed remotely.
