Ceramics: Color Trends 2022-2023

Playing and experimenting with the different colors of the ceramic collections of Spanish firms helps us define environments and create a unique identity in each room.

Below, in collaboration with the Habitat Trends Observatory (OTH) and the Institute of Ceramic Technology (ITC), we summarize the Four color palettes associated with the latest ceramic macro trends collected in the “Trends in Ceramic Surfaces 22/23” Report.

Natural dyes [Expression of Nature Trend]. In this trend, where ceramic wall and floor surfaces bring us closer to nature, colors reminiscent of botanical hues predominate, with muted tones, baked pigmentation, and natural patinas that seek to convey a handcrafted effect on the surfaces. A low-saturation palette full of clay, green, and moss tones evoke a vegetal appearance.

Neutral palette [Embracing Emotions Trend]. Embracing Emotions proposes soft tones that evolve toward sensorial and energizing colors. The palette offers a balanced mix of pigmented pastels and neutrals with brighter, and sometimes digital, finishes. In this trend, greens and blues become key colors for their nurturing and calming qualities, inviting us to find balance and well-being.

Energizing shades [Exuberant Balanced Trend]. In this trend, the use of color enhances interiors' energy, while also dividing spaces or highlighting architectural features. Pinks, purple glows, synthetic sunsets, and digital color schemes are used unequivocally to create compositions with strong contrasts that transport us to immersive settings. Likewise, vintage tones such as pink, brown, and green add softness.

Futuristic colors [Enigmatic Luxury Trend]. In this trend, synonymous with luxury, dark colors and marbled, liquid, metallic, and glossy finishes predominate, seeking to achieve a sophisticated effect and a futuristic aesthetic. Ocean blue becomes a key hue, which, in addition to embracing fantasy-inspired aesthetics, is very appropriate for conveying serenity and balance in spaces.
