Nika Zupanc
A designer with a great international outreach, ambassador of elegant punk and tecno chic
Nika Zupanc, a popular Slovenian designer, has recently visited Spain to participate as a keynote speaker at the conference, organized by Spanish leading brand Cosentino, with the topic “From poetics to design”. The young interior designer enjoys great international recognition thanks to her own designs on the one hand and the many creations she has developed in collaboration with prestigious companies or brands such as Bosa, Francfranc, Dior, Moroso, Moooi, Rossana Orlandi, Sém, Qeeboo, Nodus, etc.
Lolita Lamp, the Miss Dior chair, Black Cherry Lamp, or the settings A room of one's own for the Esprit Dior exhibition: Miss Dior, or The doll house ... are only few examples of the creations that have projected her towards the highest level in the world of international design. She has been awarded in numerous occasions and at present, she is one of the anchor names for the most important exhibitions in the sector, such as the Milano Design Week or 100% Design, the London based show.
Her remarked feminist aesthetic characterizes her. The feminine and seductive, stylish and elegant forms provoke a contrast in the predominantly masculine design world; including the color black, more linked to the masculine design style, gets a female twist. In her creations, pink, light blue and gold colours, as well as pastel tones are predominant, moreover the designers´ desire to explore new technologies, shapes and materials stand out, and allow combining different stylistic references and developing a design language that many have described as elegant punk or tecno chic.
