A new perspective on the bathroom
The bathroom is more than just a functional space: it's where we begin and end the day, where we find peace, relaxation, and enjoy small moments of "me time." It's no surprise, then, that the bathroom is increasingly becoming a living space in its own right, with an atmosphere and design that promote well-being..
Reflecting this transformation, the Researchor Villeroy & Boch made A clear statement at ISH 2025 with its exhibition stand, created by designers Christian Haas, Gesa Hansen and Roberto Palomba: a showcase that combines spaciousness, minimalist luxury and comfort.
The bathroom as a living space in colors and materials: warm minimalism
The increasingly fast-paced life of the modern world is creating a growing need for spaces where we can slow down. «The bathroom is the last truly private room in the house, so its design "is especially important"", explains Gesa Hansen. More than just a haven, a well-designed bathroom actively promotes well-being and contributes to the daily ritual of relaxation."
Fluid transitions, organic shapes, and natural materials create an atmosphere imbued with peace and comfort. At ISH 2025, the Villeroy & Boch Group presents the bathroom as an open living space with intelligent architectural design, illustrating its contribution to the conscious and sustainable use of resources.
Trends in colors and materials: warm minimalism
In our modern age, with increasingly distant interactions and increasing digitalization, touch is becoming a true luxury. The need for experiences that appeal to our senses is especially evident in our own homes. This realization inspired Haas and Hansen to create a bathroom presentation for Villeroy & Boch that emphasizes the feel, textures, and beauty of natural materials: solid wood furniture.iza noble, polished 3D tiles and satin and high-quality ceramic sinks in natural tones.
Instead of a harsh black and white contrast, Haas and Hansen opted for a soft color scheme in warm anthracite and light sand tones. The resulting interplay of shadows and subtle nuances infuses the room with character and elegance. The monochromatic color palette in earthy midtones creates fluid transitions and a comforting feel—a style both designers describe as "minimal."warm alism».
Lasting luxury
The concept of luxury is also being redefined today. Instead of passing fads, the focus is shifting toward an aesthetic that reflects durability, quality, and sustainability. "The most important trend is to move away from fads and focus on long-lasting products.", says Christian Haas.
Materials and workmanship play a key role: in addition to an elegant appearance, objects must demonstrate their value in everyday life. "Quiet luxury" perfectly describesion the concept that Haas, Hansen, and Palomba have put into practice. Their design is accessible and focuses on products with textures, functionality, and aesthetics that have stood the test of time.
Enduring design is more than a style statement, it is a conscious commitment to quality.sustainableity. «More than ever, today's designers must follow an ethical and responsible and make sustainability the center of their vision. Respect for the environment is not an option, it is essential for youa more conscious, harmonious and respectful future for our planet», says Roberto Palomba.
