A new benchmark for architecture and design in Australia.
Rock Group has officially opened Sydney Gallery, a new design-focused space that joins its international network of Galleries developed around the world. Located in Surry Hills, Sydney Gallery reinforces the Group's commitment to architecture, design culture, and professional exchange, bringing together its two global brands. RUN and Roca, in the same spatial framework.
Conceived as a design-driven space, Sydney Gallery transcends the logic of a conventional showroom, placing architecture and design at the heart of the project. Designed as a dynamic space for presentation and exchange, it expresses a vision of the bathroom as a place of well-being, innovation, and contemporary living, while also serving as a platform for professional and industry dialogue.
“The opening of Sydney Gallery represents a significant milestone for Roca Group in Australia. This new space reflects our commitment to design, architecture, and exchange.” professional, and reinforces our long-term vision for the market.”Shaun Tulk, Managing Director of Roca Group Australia, pointed out.
Architectural approach
The project occupies a two-story heritage building in Gadigal Country and embraces the neighborhood's strong culture of rehabilitation and adaptive use. Original architectural elements and materials have been preserved and reinterpreted, allowing the existing structure to actively influence the Gallery's atmosphere.
Designed by the international architecture and design firm DKO, the Gallery is organized as a sequence of complementary spaces spread across two levels. Light plays a central role throughout the space, guiding movement and shaping perception, while the choice of materials reflects both the building's character and the brands' identities.
The lower level is dedicated to LAUFEN, articulated as a spatial narrative linked to the elemental origins of ceramics. Tactile surfaces, earthy tones, and exposed concrete elements create a grounded environment that highlights precision, innovation, and ceramic expertise. Within this setting, LAUFEN's collections are presented with deliberate precision, revealing the brand's mastery of ceramic innovation, technical refinement, and Swiss manufacturing excellence.
The upper level introduces a contrasting atmosphere, linked to Roca's Mediterranean DNA. Lighter, warmer, and more open, the space is characterized by soft color palettes, a relaxed spatial flow, and architectural elements such as latticework and curved forms. Mediterranean references are reinterpreted from an Australian perspective, responding to Sydney's coastal context and reflecting Roca's focus on accessible design and everyday comfort.
A forum for creative and professional dialogue
Beyond its exhibition function, Sydney Gallery is conceived as a platform for exchange, reflection, and professional engagement. The space is designed to host industry events, talks, and meetings that explore architecture, design, and new forms of contemporary living, bringing together architects, designers, specifiers, and other professionals from Australia.
As part of the international network of Galleries developed by Roca Group around the world, Sydney Gallery contributes to an ongoing dialogue between global design culture and the local context, reflecting LAUFEN and Roca's shared commitment to architecture, responsible innovation and the future of design.
