The Roca Barcelona Gallery hosted the official opening of the 18th edition of Barcelona Design Week , the leading annual event for design and creativity in Barcelona. The gathering brought together numerous personalities from the design, architecture, and interior design sectors, who also enjoyed the Barcelona premiere of the Nutura installation, designed by Benedetta Tagliabue – EMBT Architects exclusively for Roca.
This new edition of BDW is linked to the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and launches an innovative global initiative to promote SDG 18: "Design for Human Future," which also serves as the event's theme.
“It is an honor for Roca to participate in another edition of Barcelona Design Week, with which we share the vocation to reflect on the role of design in people's lives, the firm commitment to a more sustainable future and, of course, the passion for Barcelona as the world capital of design,” said Anna Maresch, Head of Marketing at Roca.
The event included the talk "A conversation beyond design. Nutura, from Milan to Barcelona," in which Benedetta Tagliabue, the installation's architect, and Barcelona Design Week curator Alessandro Manetti discussed the creation process of Nutura, its debut at FuoriSalone in Milan, and its adaptation to a space like Roca Barcelona Gallery.
Nutura is conceived as a multisensory journey, inspired by the light and textures of the Mediterranean, that pays homage to 20th-century Barcelona architecture. “As a tribute to the artists who defined a unique style for the city, Nutura arrives today in its natural home: Barcelona. I invite all Barcelonans to visit Roca Barcelona Gallery and calmly discover a work that we have tried to make convey peace and tranquility ,” shared Benedetta Tagliabue.
Following the official opening, Roca Barcelona Gallery hosted various activities from the Barcelona Design Week program. With these activities, Roca Barcelona Gallery continues to consolidate its position as a benchmark in the culture of design, architecture, and interior design in the city, as well as a space for debate around the challenges the sector must face to contribute to a more sustainable future.
