The world-renowned designer Patricia Urquiola creates for the first time a bathroom series for Duravit, Balcony, which is a fascinating combination of modernity and timeless elegance, purist yet with a strong design identity. By combining premium features with first-class craftsmanship, it sets a completely new standard in the mid-price range. Patricia Urquiola thus makes her design accessible to a wider audience.
The objects in the series combine simple geometric shapes with clear lines to create a sober, enduring aesthetic that radiates warmth and accessibility at the same time. “The design plays with height differences, overhangs, and the layering of materials and textures, hence the name 'Balcoon'.”, explains Patricia Urquiola.
The countertop sinks They unfold as sculptural focal points in the room and go far beyond their pure function. The designer has given them an impressive architectural presence by placing round and oval sinks on a square plinth. This interplay of two levels runs throughout the collection, from wall-mounted sinks to toilets and bidets, including furniture elements and bathtubs.
For ceramic objects Balcoon, Patricia Urquiola has created an earthy terracotta tone that accentuates its tactile and material properties and that makes the pottery look even more authentic and handcrafted. The bathroom furniture's colour scheme, inspired by nature, is also based on it and allows for individual combinations with white, earthy brown and anthracite tones. The textured surfaces of the furniture They add playful accents. An additional option to give even more depth and authenticity to the furniture is the mineral consoles, available in three colors.
La console with integrated rear panel This is a striking detail of the Balcoon washbasin elements, creating a special spatial reference. It overlaps the fronts of the storage solutions below, for which Patricia Urquiola chose an unusual, partly asymmetrical arrangement of drawers and open shelves. The visual tension of the furniture elements is enhanced by the contrasting color scheme.
For the surfaces, the designer opted for plain decorations in various color gradations as standard for the mid-price segment.
Balcoon built-in acrylic bathtubs They skillfully play with the two levels and present two visually striking features: The raised, oval rim of the tub rests on a seamless acrylic panel that extends to the corners and is easy to clean. The ergonomic interior invites you to take a relaxing bath.
matching faucets for the washbasin, bidet, shower, and bathtub complete the range. Its cylindrical handle blends into the faucet body in a gentle curve and is pleasant to the touch. The three finishes—chrome, matte black, and brushed stainless steel—complement the range's harmonious color spectrum. With Fresh Start and Minus Flow, Balcoon single-lever faucets offer energy- and water-saving functions.
