Eleven associations from the construction and auxiliary industry have joined forces to demand the reopening of stores selling ceramic tiles and building materials.

The main employers from Spain in the sector ceramic tiles, building materials and similar supplies, have joined forces to demand in unison the Minister of Health and the Minister of Industry their concern about the impossibility of opening the points of sale where the materials they represent are marketed. In the letter which has been sent to Minister Illa and Minister Maroto, the main business organizations of materials denounce that in phase 0 and 1 of the de-escalation the opening of premises of more than 400 m is not foreseen.2. It so happens that specialized sales points occupy an average surface area of about 800 m2, therefore, this measure means that, in practice, none of the establishments can open their doors to the public.

For all sectors, this measure makes no sense since, given the type of business and establishment, these stores meet the necessary conditions to guarantee compliance with appropriate hygiene measures to protect the health and safety of citizens and workers. All sectors are surprised that last Saturday's Ministerial Order allows the opening of vehicle dealerships with display sizes equal to or larger than ceramic product stores, with a higher occupancy rate than ceramic and equipment displays, and with products that are much more difficult to clean.

The signatory organizations -ANDIMAC, ANFAPA, ANFFECC, ASCER, ASEBAN, ASEBEC, CEPCO, COFEARFE, FEBAN, HISPALYT and PROALSO- on behalf of all its members, they demand effective measures adapted to the business and market reality and, therefore, consider the opening of all points of sale necessary They serve the thousands of workers, professionals, and clients involved in the construction industry. Industrial and commercial activity, as well as a significant number of SMEs and self-employed construction workers, depend on them, whose activity is limited because their customers cannot freely choose their products in stores.
